The Gauthier family have cultivated vines in Saint-Joseph , Villié-Morgon for more than 200 years, the birth certificate of Antoine Philibert Gauthier dated on the 8th Thermidor of the VII year according to the calendar of the revolution (26th July 1799) states that his father aged 26 years was a wine-maker.
The original domaine was situated in the hamlet "Les Gauthiers", 1km from where it is today.
